We must end corruption, tip the scales back to the side of the most important class in our history, the middle class, and raise the minimum wage.

One more thing: health freedom will always be under attack from both the right and left. We would like to think that the left would be for the individual but sadly many on the left still promote policies that take away individual rights and support a failing and corrupt medical system. Sadly, many on the left think that our medicine is science run, when in fact, it is run by money and our science is the science of the highest bidder. Because I get a lot of letters asking me about my photography and the programs I use, we are going to review for you a good number of software programs (for the PC) that I’ve been testing and reviewing. There are some great programs out there. After that, since I use a lot of DVD programs on which I put many slide shows, I’ll review for you some DVD editing programs.

In Cedar Rapids Iowa, a quite Midwestern town where all the children have wide smiles and grandmas still rock on their porches at sundown, there’s a factory that makes supplements for livestock.

I’ve heard it said that if we raised our livestock using the same medicine we use on our human population, a good steak could run $250.00.

The animal supplement industry keeps our livestock (and our recreational horses) healthy by producing feed additives that keep immune systems, digestive systems, and cardiovascular systems healthy and balanced.

Ask anyone at the Diamond V® Mills in Cedar Rapids, and they will tell you that there’s no magic to making supplements; it’s pure science. They test and retest their products to make sure that they are the best they can possibly make.

The Diamond V® is a good company to work for. The pay is decent and all employees get health benefits. If you have a company that pays health benefits, then you will eventually be dealing with insurance adjusters.

It was the insurance adjusters who first noticed it.

The workers who worked in the factory and who came in contact with the fermented yeast products weren’t getting sick, while management took sick leave at rates that were in line with the national average.

Something was going on, and since the company based its practices on scientific investigation, management commissioned a research group to find out what was going on.

Long story short, blood tests of those who worked with the fermented yeast products showed the following:

an increase in Immunoglobulins (sIgA) that stand as guards to our “entryways” laying down the first line of protection, not allowing pathogens to enter;
an increase in CD4 counts, coordinating T and B cells on a second line of defense;
an increase in NK (Natural Killer) Cell activity.

Interviews showed even more, with workers boasting of wonderful health and great attitudes. One person who had been diagnosed with an eye disorder that would eventually leave him blind felt that he was saved from the prognosis by his luck at working for Diamond V® Mills. The process to create their fermented yeast product is not patented, but it is a trade secret that no competitor has yet to copy. An analysis of the product by investigators came up with even more startling details.

Squaline was found. Squaline comes mainly from shark liver but is also found in a handful of plants. Squaline is a precursor to steroids. Squaline makes a wonderful skin moisturizer, but we found at PDR Health: “Animal work suggests that indications could one day emerge for squalene in the prevention and treatment of some cancers, for immune enhancement and possibly for lowering cholesterol.” [http://pdrhealth.com/drug_info/nmdrugprofiles/nutsupdrugs/squ_0240.shtml]

Phenolics and phytosterols were also found. These are both antioxidants; phenolics are the antioxidant that is found in wine. Phytosterols are plant sterols, which are suspected to have some effect in cancer prevention. As we discovered in the product Cell Forte with IP-6, plant sterols modulate the immune response and have been successful in treating autoimmune conditions such as lupus and rheumatoid arthritis. Phytosterols have also been shown to positively affect allergic rhinitis, sinusitis, and asthma.

If you drink green tea you are familiar with Catechins, which were also found in EpiCor. Catechins belong to the flavan-3-ol class of flavonoids and have antioxidant properties. The health benefits of green tea are attributed to the Catechins,

One final chemical found was Resveratrol , which is part of our Alternative Cancer Therapies. Resveratrol inhibits the body's production of the COX (cycoloxygenase) enzyme which stimulates tumor growth and suppresses the immune system. Resveratrol is very important in preventing cancer and supporting the immune system.

The product was next tested for stability and toxicity. It passed with flying colors. It was found to be extremely stable at temperatures above room temp for 22 months. Toxicity studies on mice showed it to be perfectly safe. Before human studies were conducted, they did another study that showed that it does not interfere with drug metabolism (hence it can be used with “most” prescriptions).

With all this going for their product, they created a concentrated pill form for human studies and, if those successful, to market. It is called EpiCor.

EpiCor is now considered GRAS, by the FDA, or Generally Recognized As Safe. The company created to make and market EpiCor is called Embria Health Sciences. It’s parent company is still Diamond V® Mills. They have spent well over a million dollars on Research & Development and the money was well spent.

Researchers, according to Chris Meletis, ND, made some valuable discoveries concerning EpiCor. For one thing, EpiCor seems to influence “calcium signaling.”

As we all know, the human body has some remarkably complex systems. One thing that is certain in these systems is that they all work together for balance of the entire being. Calcium signaling is one very crucial part of the many inter cellular processes that if inhibited can result in diseases ranging from “abnormal cell proliferation,” such as cancer, and early cell death, such as occurs in premature aging.

Researchers also learned that EpiCor is an anti-inflammatory, an immunomodulator (which brings up a depressed immune system, or brings down an over expressive immune system as in autoimmune diseases), and a regulator of the lifetime of cells, from their beginning to their end.

It was during the human studies that they found they could tell by the blood samples alone who worked in the factory and who worked in management, 100% of the time. One research, according to Chris Meletis, ND, after reviewing the results said, “I've never seen anything like these results before. These people seem virtually immune from contracting almost anything.” The subjects using EpiCor had higher levels of glutathione and red blood cells, and lower C reactive protein (CRP) and Interleukin 6 (IL-6), which meant they had no signs of chronic inflammation. We told you already that initial blood tests of the factory workers showed and increase in immunoglobulin A, but the human studies discovered that the increase could go as high as 60%. Not only were CD4s raised, but if needed, they found CD8s, the suppressor T-Cells would rise, proving the immunomodulating effects of EpiCor. As for the NK Cell activity, the human studies showed a nearly 4 fold increase. These numbers are unprecedented. No wonder there has been such hype over EpiCor.

EpiCor is a preventive. If you have a cold, it won’t end it overnight. But the odds are, if you’re taking it, you won’t get that cold. Researchers believe that EpiCor is a more powerful antioxidant than blueberries, that it will protect against most known infections, reduce inflammation, fight off Candida, and support the growth of probiotics in the intestinal tract.

At the time of this writing, only a few published studies exist. Many will be forthcoming in the near future. And you can bet we’ll add EpiCor to our paper on How To Beat the Cold and Flu Season.

When we receive complaints, we listen. It seems that some of our readers who have bought from one of the sites supporting us thru an affiliate program has not lived up to their promises. Ironically, I've discovered the same thing, and after a recent experience with them, followed by two letters from readers complaining about this same company, we have dropped them from our web site and sent them the following letter:

Tom was a fisherman living on the northern Pacific Ocean in British Columbia, Canada. At one point in his life, he decided to grow shell fish. Ron had someone use his Healon PF on a Plantar Wart. In less than two weeks, she reported back to Ron that the wart had gone away. Ron asked me to try this and sure enough, I'd had a friend who has suffered from Plantar Warts on her feet since her teens. For over four decades, she’s had these things on both feet.

When I was in Pre-Med I learned that viruses often change when they are attacked; they change and they adapt. This is what has happened to my friend. The wart ran to a different part of her foot. She applied the cream there and it ran to the top of her foot. Healon PF is chasing the virus all around her foot. Whenever I contact her, the wart has moved somewhere else. Neither Ron nor I have ever heard of this, but we have now, and my friend updates me monthly on where the plantar wart has moved to. However, the really good news is that on one foot, the wart is completely gone.

I’ve personally seen Healon PF work on herpes. Herpes is a virus. I’ve seen it clear up a herpes if used at first sign, and if you don’t catch it at the first sign but still apply Healon PF, the wound heals faster than if just left to itself.

In the summer I will sometimes get a bit of jock itch because I love to run and play tennis for hours on end and then go somewhere instead of hitting the showers. I have used Healon PF for the fungal infection, and it burns. Sugar Foot does not burn but is a moisturizer. Sugar Foot is not quite as healing as Healon PF, but it still is perfect for those uses we’ve outlined. Healon PF is a powerful healing agent, but not a moisturizer.

Healon PF is great for surgical scars, especially if they are fresh. People report that their scars have practically vanished, as you saw above in the before and after pictures.

Good companies go out of business when people do not support them. You can buy some antibiotic cream for 1/20^th the cost of Healon PF. But it can’t do 1/1000^th the job of Healon PF. You get what you pay for.

The spot dries up and peels off. No acne, no whiteheads.

But on my cheek, where my physician said I had a solar keratosis, it has removed the spot, and keeps pulling “crud” out of my cheek. I'm going to keep using it till whatever is coming out stays out for good.

At this writing, I have three new people trying the lotion and I will report back to you.

AOL has just listed some "special" products for that special Christmas. One product was a very expensive ($110.00/oz) moisturizing lotion called Crème de La Mer. The ingredients are not listed at their web site. This is most likely not an oversight.

Crème de La Mer's ingredients: seaweed (algae) extract, mineral oil\paraffinum, liquidum\huile minerale, petrolatum, glycerin, isohexadecane, citrus aurantifolia (lime) extract, microcrystalline wax \cera microcristallina\cire microcristalline, lanolin alcohol, sesamum indicum (sesame) seed oil, eucalyptus globulus (ecalyptus) leaf oil, magnesium sulfate, sesamum indicum (sesame) seed, medicago sativa (alfalfa) seed powder, helianthus annuus (sunflower) seedcake, prunus amygdalus dulcis (sweet almond) seed meal, sodium gluconate, potassium gluconate, copper gluconate, calcium gluconate, magnesium gluconate, zinc gluconate, paraffin, tocopheryl succinate, niacin, beta-carotene, decyl oleate, aluminum distearate, octyldodecanol, citric acid, cyanocobalamin, magnesium stearate, panthenol, limonene, geraniol, linalool, hydroxycitronellal, citronellol, benzyl salicylate, citral, methylchloroisothiazolinone, methylisothiazolinone, alcohol denat., fragrance (parfum)

You will notice that there are some very good things in this moisturizer. However, there are some ingredients "knowing consumers" will NOT want on their skin. One of them is one of the main ingredients: mineral oil.

The problem is that mineral oil is foreign to the human body and has many harmful effects, especially in infants. Some of the effects of mineral oil may be a little surprising. Mineral oil acts as a thin layer on the skin.

It is difficult to absorb and clogs the pores, which slows the skin’s ability to eliminate toxins. Remember, the skin is the body’s largest organ and plays an important role in maintaining overall health!

Once the oil is absorbed, it is broken down by the liver and passes through the intestinal tract, it will absorb all of the fat-soluble vitamins found there. It is essentially stealing important vitamins from the body, which the body will not be able to replace. This can eventually lead to nutritional deficiencies.

Studies have also shown forms of pneumonia caused by mineral oil decreasing lung unction, known as lipoid pneumonia. Because of these dangers, the medical community has condemned the use of mineral oil taken orally or as an ingredient in medications. [http://www.herballuxuries.com/mineral-oil.htm]

Another product, at the top of the list so you know that this is a main ingredient, is Petrolatum, the same stuff we know as Vaseline Petroleum Jelly.

What’s so bad about Vaseline Petroleum Jelly? For one thing, it’s been banned in the EU and seems to be a carcinogen. You can read more here: Health Report

I did some more searches on some of the other chemicals, those that you can’t pronounce.

Isohexadecane; take a search on Toxnet and you’ll find case after case of dermatitis or skin inflammation. It is considered an allergen.

Methylisothiazolinone; a powerful biocide (kills life) and preservative. Yes, this is found in a small amount, but if you found strychnine on the label of your face cream, would you care how much was in it?

At Wikipedia we found: “Some studies have shown MIT to be allergenic and cytotoxic, and this has led to some concern over its use. In early December, 2004, a news broadcast from WNYT in Albany, NY reported that methylisothiazolinone had been linked to nerve cell death in scientific studies. In 2002, there was an in vitro study of the neurotoxicity of MIT in the department of Neurobiology at the University of Pittsburgh.”

Methylchloroisothiazolinone; a preservative with antibacterial and antifungal effects found in a great number of cosmetics, but still, it’s a potent allergen and has been attacked at a carcinogen.

If you ask me, there’s no question whatsoever about whose products are better, Ron Salley’s or La Mer (The Sea).

Just the other day, I was playing with a young fellow whose fingers were cut up from falling outside on gravel. His mom washed his hands while he sat in his highchair, and when she went to get him his “num-num,” he began to cry, holding his hand in the air. We got out some Sugar Foot and put it on his sore fingers. Within 20 seconds, he stopped crying and dug into his “num-num.”

A friend of our work here, Tony Isaacs, has written two books; one about cancer and the other about natural health.

Tony found our site while researching alternative cancer remedies, loved our work, and decided to do some research into an ancient cancer cure, an aqueous (water) extract of Nerium Oleander which has been used at least 2000 years.

The author feels that this is a strong testimony to the amazing potency of oleander, which, he feels, is having to fight both the cancer and the damage Chemo normally does to the immune system and major organs. For those who have already had chemotherapy before using oleander, the success rate drops a bit further, but is still impressive and is considerably better than the overall success rate for chemo alone.

In The China Study, T. Colin Campbell, Ph.D., details the connection between nutrition and heart disease, diabetes and cancer. I decided to start an in-depth laboratory program that would investigate the role of nutrition, especially protein, in the development of cancer. What we found was shocking. Low-protein diets inhibited the initiation of cancer by aflatoxin, regardless of how much of the carcinogen was administered to theses animals. After cancer initiation was completed, low-protein diets also dramatically blocked subsequent cancer growth. In other words, the cancer-producing effects of this highly carcinogenic chemical were rendered insignificant by a low-protein diet. In fact, dietary protein proved to be so powerful in its effect that we could turn on and off cancer growth simply by changing the levels consumed.

Furthermore, the amounts of protein being fed were those that we humans routinely consume. We didn’t use extraordinary levels, as is so often the case in carcinogen studies. But that’s not all. We found that not all proteins had this effect. What protein consistently and strongly promoted cancer? Casein, which makes up 87% of cow’s milk protein, promoted all stages of the cancer process. What type of protein did not promote cancer, even at high levels of intake? The safe proteins were from plants, including wheat and soy. As this picture came into view, it began to challenge and then to shatter some of my most cherished assumptions.

I went on to direct the most comprehensive study of diet, lifestyle and disease ever done with humans in the history of biomedical research. It was a massive undertaking jointly arranged through Cornell University, Oxford University and the Chinese Academy of Preventive Medicine. The New York Times called it the “Grand Prix of Epidemiology.” The project surveyed a vast range of diseases and diet and lifestyle factors in rural China and, more recently, in Taiwan. More commonly known as the China Study, this project eventually produced more than 8,000 statistically significant associations between various dietary factors and disease!

These findings - the contents of Part II of this book - show that heart disease, diabetes and obesity can be reversed by a healthy diet. Other research shows that various cancers, autoimmune diseases, bone health, kidney health, vision and brain disorders in old age (like cognitive dysfunction and Alzheimer's) are convincingly influenced by diet. Most importantly, the diet that has time and again been shown to reverse and/or prevent these diseases is the same whole foods, plant-based diet that I had found to promote optimal health in my laboratory research and in the China Study.

Four of the extracts were shown to kill significant numbers of leukemia cells when applied for 24 hours. Depending on the extract and concentration, anywhere from about 35 percent to 86 percent of the cells died. [http://news.ufl.edu/2006/01/12/berries/]

To understand the powers of the Acai Berry apart from its antioxidant strength, let’s just take a look at the phytochemicals in their composition.

From the NCBI (National Center for Biological Information), a branch of the NIH (National Institute of Health) we found the following:

Nearly half the berry consists of essential fatty acids (Omega-3) with some omega-9s which are the healthy fats found in olive oil. The major phytochemicals found in the acai were anthocyanins, proanthocyanidins, and other flavonoids, some of which had never been seen previously. A small amount of Resveratrol was found, but in very low concentrations.

Anthocyanins are potent antioxidants and free radical scavengers and exhibit immunostimulant properties, anti-viral activity, cardiovascular protection, and even stress relief activity. It is the anthocyanins in red wine that are supposed to be, though this is still only an educated guess, responsible for the “French Paradox.”

Proanthocyanidins (OPCs) are akin to the antioxidants found in grape seed and pine extract.

Both anthocyanins and proanthocyanidins have shown anti-angiogenesis (stops the growth of blood vessels to tumors) properties in the laboratory.

Sterols were also found, which, as you read above (EpiCor) are suspected to have some effect in cancer prevention and modulate the immune response, which has proved successful in treating autoimmune conditions such as lupus and rheumatoid arthritis. They have also been shown to positively affect allergic rhinitis, sinusitis, and asthma. Recently sterols have been used to treat BPH (benign prostate hyperplasia) and there is evidence that beta-sitosterol (the predominant sterol in Acai) may help prevent immune weakness resulting from severe physical stress.

The Acai Berry contains nearly as much calcium as a comparable glass of milk, and nineteen amino acids.

All together, from its composition, you can guess that the Acai Berry fights inflammation and slows the aging process (fights wrinkles).

The nutrient analysis of the acai shows a wide spectrum of vitamins, B1, B2, B3, vitamin C, vitamin E, and a host of minerals including, iron, calcium (mentioned above), copper, zinc, potassium, phosphorus, and magnesium, and enough natural fiber to keep you regular.

Because Oprah has made this little berry so popular, there were a ton of companies to wade through looking for the best product, but I think I’ve found them. They are called Sambazon.

The people at Sambazon were the first to export the Acai Berry. The fruit is organic and the people who work in the Brazilian rainforest harvesting and drying the fruit are paid a living wage. And again, we cannot overstate the simple fact that if we harvest the rainforests of the world we will get more out of them than if we cut them down and sell off the wood. Sambazon is another company dedicated to saving our rapidly dwindling rainforests.

Most acai products are filled with sugars and mixed with other fruits. Sambazon's products are pure acai. The frozen treat they sell contains lecithin and citric acid.

Sambazon sent me some pills, a powder (for my smoothies), and some frozen packs they call Pure Acai, but really, they’re just like a flat popsicle with the most potent fruit antioxidant on the planet. And, they taste wonderful.

We used their powder in smoothies, took the pills before playing tennis, and shared the frozen product with everyone. Our local food co-op will soon be ordering them (when they get more freezer space at the new location).

I’m told that if your supermarket has a healthy foods section (sometimes called the Organic Section), take a look in the frozen foods for the Sambazon smoothies. If they don’t carry Sambazon, just ask. I’ve seen the product in about five or six stores so far, and the people there have told us it’s a big seller. We loved the product, and yes, it’s one more thing we’ll never run out of in my home.

Goji Berries are among the most hyped health foods on the internet, and Oprah didn’t have a hand in this one.

Every site lists the ingredients found in the berries, including this one: Physalein.

Go look up the word. It doesn’t exist. But it’s all over the web, well, at least it's printed up in each advertisement for Goji Berries.

As you can see, separating the hype from the usable information is very difficult, and that is where WE come in. We’ll do that for you.

The Goji Berry is hyped as the most powerful antioxidant found in fruit. It is good, but it’s only a close second to the Acai Berry.

It has nearly the same vitamins found in the Acai Berry, one less amino acid, and a host of minerals.

Where it separates itself from the Acai Berry is in the amounts of vitamins. There is more vitamin A, C, and E than in the acai, and there are mucopolysaccharides that are very immunosupportive. In fact, it is thought that the Goji contains the riches source of carotenoids of any know plant.

It is also important to note that the vitamins found in both the Acai and Goji berries are complex vitamins, not just parts. As some of you know, here we believe that vitamins are complex, that vitamin C is not just ascorbic acid and that vitamin E is not just alpha-tocopherol; that vitamins are complex substances and in their original forms, such as from fruits, they are in their most powerful form.

And one main thing separating the Goji from the Acai is that you can eat a dehydrated Goji berry. They are just very tasty. A handful and you’re on your way to a healthy day.

The Goji berry (sometimes called the Wolf berry, but the Wolf berry comes from China and is a bit different) has a long history in the Himalayans. They were used as a tonic to counter a chi deficiency, and a blood tonic. They were known to nurture the heart and relieve heart palpitations in just minutes.

For menstruating women, because the they contain fifteen times more iron than spinach, they can eat Goji to replace lost iron.

Presently the Goji is undergoing studies in Japan and Mongolia where they are being scrutinized over their anticancer properties. Each Goji contains organic Germanium (see above). The Goji contains many anticancer components that, according to initial studies, have been shown to depress or block the synthesis of cancer cells DNA, inhibiting the cancer cells ability to divide.

In one large study in japan using older patients with cancer, the berry inhibited tumor growth by 58% and a side effect that was noticed was that the proteins in the berry display an insulin like action that was very effective in the decomposition of fat.

Like the EpiCor above, the Goji berry increases the presence of immunoglobulin A that acts as a sentry guarding the entrances to your body (the mucus membranes). Also found in the Goji was superoxide dismutase, which slows the aging process and allows injured DNA to repair itself.

More studies seem to show what the people of inner Mongolia have known for centuries: those who eat the berries live free of cancer, heart disease, arthritis, and diabetes and have a life expectancy of well over 100 years. They are simply younger than those of the same age just miles away in China. And there is no such thing as dementia of any sort in the elderly.

Studies in weight loss show that a tea made from the berries produced significant weight loss and created a noticeable energy lift in those who were in the study. Energy is required to overcome any and every illness.

Further studies show that Goji berries improves vision (the carotenoids might be the reason), lower blood pressure (and cholesterol levels), burns fat, protects the liver, and strengthens bones and muscles.

Goji berries grow in protected valleys that have been cared for over the centuries. The Goji grows on bushes with vines that reach over 15 feet. An interesting note is that the berries are never touched by hand because they will oxidize and turn black if they are touched while fresh. The berries are shaken onto mats and then shade dried.
